WillowBrook Australian Labradoodles

The Labradoodle originate in Australia in the early 80's when Wally Conron of the Royal Guide Dog Association of Australia received a request from a vision-impaired woman living in Hawaii whose husband was allergic to dog hair.
In order to get an intelligent, people oriented, allergy-friendly dog, the Poodle and Labrador Retriever was crossed to produce the labradoodle. This produced an allergy-friendly guide dog named Sultan for the vision-impaired woman from Hawaii.
The foundation breeders further developed the Australian Labradoodle to produce consistently sound temperament and allergy-friendly dogs by infusing other breeds along the way. Currently there are 10 generations of the Australian Labradoodle. The Labrador Retriever/Poodle mix alone will create a genetic dead end. New blood was needed to protect the health and vitality of the new breed. The Lab and Poodle share 49 hereditary diseases. It was necessary to bring in new blood to dilute the genetic influence of the parent breeds. The infusions also corrected coat, developed miniature and medium sizes, and added colors. After much research, the infusion of other breeds was done at strategic intervals to produce what is known today as the Australian Labradoodle.Currently the Australian Labradoodle is considered to be a cross between the Poodle, Cocker Spaniel, Irish Water Spaniel and Labrador Retriever, and more recently the Wheaton Terrier while the Labradoodle is simply a cross between the Labrador Retriever and Poodle and is primarily first or second generation.

In 2005 the Australian Labradoodle Association of America (ALAA) formed and united with the Australian Labradoodle Association (ALA), formerly the LAA, under the umbrella of the International Australian Labradoodle Association (IALA) as a single entity of sister associations with the protection of the Labradoodle’s past and future as a common goal. These associations nurture the development of the Labradoodle by promoting uniform breeding standards to insure the health and integrity of the breed.
The major way to achieve these goals is to register world-wide breeding Labradoodles and store their pedigree information for their progeny.
We are committed to producing intelligent, well-rounded, allergy-friendly Labradoodles with sound temperament. All of our Labradoodles are registered with the ALAA/IALA. We are a Silver Paw/Gold Paw breeder which means our breeding stock are tested for and meet the requirements for the following: Hip and Elbow, Eye certification and a CBC, Complete Thyroid panel including TgAA (this is the OFA Thyroid certification panel) and all dogs are tested every 18 months.
We do not believe in keeping our dogs in kennels. Our breeding stock either live in our home or in guardian homes. We feel all dogs should live in a home with love and attention. All puppies receive early training and environmental stimulation to promote well-rounded adult dogs. We require that our adoptive families continue their training to ensure a healthy, happy relationship with your new family member.
